Manchester City have 'decided their January transfer budget' after claiming a partial in a battle fight with the Premier League.

Man City claimed success in their fight against the Premier League and its rules over Associated Party Transactions (APT).

The reigning English champions launched legal action against the the league, arguing that the APT rules were 'unlawful'.

The case is not linked to the club's hearing into their 115 alleged breaches of the league's financial rules.

Amid their legal victory, the club have allocated a substantial sum of money for potential business during the January transfer window.

According to a report, Man City chiefs have set aside a sum of £80 million for potential signings for when the transfer window reopens.

A replacement for Rodri is high on the club's transfer wish-list following the injury he sustained against Arsenal.

He's out for the rest of the season, with a decision to be made whether to recruit a new defensive midfielder.

The report claims if the right player is available, then it is stated that Man City do have the money to spend to strengthen their squad as they look to defend their league title.

Man City have been linked with Torino's Samuele Ricci and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton following Rodri's injury.

Mateo Kovacic filled in for Rodri in midfield against Fulham as he bagged a brace in his side's 3-2 victory last weekend.

After the game, Pep Guardiola hailed Kovacic's showing as he was pleased to see the Croatian take a leaf out of Rodri's book.

"I’m very happy he scored two goals. He’s not a guy who scores goals," he said.

"Maybe he saw Rodri, the goals he’s scored in that position.

"When they defend with five at the back there is one man free in the 18-yard box and that is Kovacic.

"The two goals is because they cannot defend that position. The first goal was brilliant and the second one as well.

"Kova was really important but now the opponents know they cannot leave him alone, otherwise he can score a goal.”
