Jack Grealish has posted a tribute to Liam Payne after he passed away aged 31 in Buenos Aires.

Jack Grealish has posted a heartbreaking tribute to Liam Payne after his tragic death in Buenos Aires.

On Wednesday night Police in Argentina said they discovered Payne's body after emergency services arrived at the Casa Sur Hotel in the neighbourhood of Palermo following a 911 phone call from the desk manager.

In a statement, police confirmed the former One Direction star had fallen from a balcony attached to his room on the third floor.

Alberto Crescenti, emergency medical services director, told media that Payne suffered "very serious injuries incompatible with life" following the accident

Payne was initially in the Argentine capital alongside his girlfriend Kate Cassidy before she headed back to Florida and he remained there alone.

Fans gathered outside of the hotel in the wake of his death and lit candles, with tributes pouring in on social media.

Manchester City and England star Grealish was deeply affected by the news and took to Instagram to send out an important message.

Sharing a picture of the late singer on his Instagram story, he wrote: "Awhhh no this is so sad man!! So so sad!! RIP Liam Payne.

"Have to start been [sic] nicer to each other in this world man."

Although he had "never kicked a ball" beforehand, in 2022 Payne had captained the England team in the Soccer Aid UNICEF charity fixture against the Rest of the World at the London Stadium before turning out a year later at Old Trafford.

He grew up in the West Midlands and was a fan of local team West Bromwich Albion.

The Championship side posted a tribute of their own to Payne on social media, writing: "We're shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Baggies fan and musician, Liam Payne.

"Our thoughts are with Liam's family, friends and loved ones at this tragic time."

Payne's body is now believed to be at a morgue in the city and a police investigation is ongoing

On Thursday his family issued a statement and said they "are supporting each other the best we can."

The family commented: "We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.

"We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."
