Punter wins thousands on the most ridiculous accumulator of all-time using 'own goal method'

Punter wins thousands on the most ridiculous accumulator of all-time using 'own goal method'

Have you seen anything like this before?

A punter has won thousands after a remarkable own goal accumulator featuring the 'first goal method' was successful – and it has left many baffled.

Ahead of the fourth round of fixtures in this season's Championship campaign, the person in question decided to place a £1 stake on strictly own goal selections only.

Firstly, they predicted an own goal to be scored in Friday's clash between Luton Town and Queens Park Rangers at Kenilworth Road, with those odds being calculated at 10/1.

But as well as the above, the punter also opted to bet on the own goal being scored first at 28/1; something that occured in the 18th minute, when QPR defender Jimmy Dunne fired into his own net.

The next bet was another own goal prediction but this time, it was last weekend's clash between Portsmouth and Sunderland.

As you can see in the picture below, the punter placed his bet on another own goal to be scored first.

And in the 31st minute at Fratton Park, Portsmouth full-back Zak Swanson slotted past his own goalkeeper to give Regis Le Bris' side an early lead.

It was a nervy wait for the punter but with nine minutes remaining at the Cardiff City Stadium, an 82nd minute OG from Cardiff midfielder Aaron Ramsey completed one of the most ridiculous bets of all time.

After sparky posted the above picture on X, formerly Twitter, hundreds of people reacted to the wager.

One fan said: "It’s so bad but so good," and another commented: "Most mental bet I’ve ever seen. Unbelievable."

A third wrote: "Now that’s what I call a proper bet. None of this over or under 0.5 shots on target nonsense… just pure maverick behaviour."

A fourth said: "Can your dad's mate send me his coupon for the next few weekends please," while a fifth added: "That’s class! Well in!!"
