A former Premier League star looks unrecognisable just a year after retirement.

Luke Spowart, a Newcastle fan, shared a holiday picture on X in which he is posing alongside former Magpie, QPR, Crystal Palace and Chelsea striker Loic Remy.

Indeed, the 31-cap France international won the Premier League title under Jose Mourinho with Chelsea in the 2014-15 season.

In the snap, Remy looks drastically different from his Premier League career, sporting long dreadlocks.

The pair reportedly met while cliff jumping in Split, Croatia, with Luke describing the Frenchman as a “lovely bloke”.

He further alleged that Remy admitted Newcastle was the best club he played for during his time in the UK due to the St James’ Park atmosphere.

Luke captioned his tweet: "Met Loic Remy (right) cliff jumping in Split yesterday afternoon, lovely bloke, said Newcastle was the best club he played for in England and that he loved SJP and the fans."

Remy joined QPR in January 2013 for a club-record £8million fee, and despite scoring six goals for the Hoops he was unable to keep the club in the top flight.

The forward then went on to spend the following season on Tyneside, where he scored 14 goals in 27 games and was crowned the Toon’s player of the year.

Remy subsequently was signed by Chelsea, but was third-choice striker behind Diego Costa and Didier Drogba as the Blues finished eight points clear at the Premier League summit.

However, Remy did outscore Drogba with nine strikes that campaign.

A loan at Crystal Palace followed before Remy finished his career with stints at Las Palmas, Getafe, Lille, Caykur Rizespor, Adana Demirspor and Brest.

However, he did not play a single game on his League 1 return, and retired from the game last summer.

Beyond his Premier League winner's medal, Remy’s trophy cabinet also includes a League Cup, the Ligue 1 title with Lyon in 2006-07 and two Coupes de la Ligue in back-to-back years at Marseille.
