Liverpool have sent a scout out to Germany to finish a massive transfer just hours after Martin Zubimendi's move to Arsenal was announced.
Over the summer, Arne Slot hoped to make a huge statement as the new Liverpool manager by signing the highly-rated Real Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi.
However, while the Spaniard had initially committed to staying with his boyhood club, turning down Liverpool, he has now reportedly agreed to join Arsenal in a sensational summer transfer.

And now, Liverpool appear ready to respond to the news as they have sent a senior scout out to Germany to complete their first signing in the January transfer window.
According to Anfield Watch, Slot has sent the club's chief scout, Barry Hunter, to Nuremberg to discuss the details of a transfer for Greek forward Stefanos Tzimas.
Reports in earlier in the week suggested that the Reds were looking at the 19-year-old as a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez, amid reports that the Uruguayan striker could be sold to a Saudi Pro League club this month.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to pay a fee of around £25million for the forward, who is said to be open to making the move to Anfield.
Tzimas is currently on loan with 2. Bundesliga club FC Nürnberg from Greek team PAOK , and has recorded eight goals and two assists in 15 appearances this season.
However, any deal for Tzimas remains completely reliant on the potential sale of Nunez, which is still in the early stages according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
“What I can confirm at the moment is only that interest from Saudi in Darwin Nunez is genuine,” he said on social media.

“For sure there is something in terms of contacts but at the moment there is nothing advanced in terms of negotiations."
Romano added: “We have to respect Liverpool – Darwin is an important player for them and they spent important money on him. There are still plenty of things to do and at the moment, we are not at that stage.”
Should Liverpool complete a deal for the highly-rated teenager, he would become only the third player to join the Reds since Slot took over from legendary manager Jurgen Klopp last summer.
