Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has made a huge claim about Mohamed Salah's ongoing contract situation at Liverpool.

The Reds have enjoyed a promising start to the campaign as they currently sit top of the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Talisman Salah has played a huge part in Liverpool's flying start to the season as he has so far recorded 16 goals and 13 assists in 23 appearances across all competitions.

However, despite Liverpool and Salah's fine form, concerns have begun to grow over the 32-year-old's future.

Salah, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all in the last few months of their deals and could walk away from the club for free in the summer if an agreement cannot be reached.

However, former City and Argentina striker Aguero has sensationally claimed that Salah had already signed a new contract with Liverpool.

As reported by Four Four Two, Aguero told Stake.com: "So, I’ve read a little about this over the past few hours.

"As I understand, Salah’s renewed [his] contract with Liverpool for two more seasons. I think this should clear all doubts about his future."

The Argentine continued: "He remains a key player and a fresh contract is the best news Liverpool could receive."

Earlier in the month, Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy claimed that both Salah and Van Dijk would want to stay at Anfield.

She said: "It’s been quite evident that Salah and Van Dijk really want to stay.

"They’ve made that clear, they’ve verbalised that, and possibly on their side there’s been a bit of frustration that it’s taken so long to reach an agreement, but the anticipation is that both players will remain at the club."

Liverpool will be back in action on Wednesday night when they continue their defence of the Carabao Cup against Southampton.
