Liverpool are pushing hard to sign Real Sociedad and Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi but there are two hurdles they must overcome in order to complete a deal.
The Reds are the only Premier League club yet to make a permanent transfer so far this summer, much to the frustration of their fanbase.
But there has been increased movement in terms of incomings, with Liverpool looking to bring in Zubimendi.
Arne Slot's options for the No.6 position are somewhat limited, with Wataru Endo linked with a move away and the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch better playing higher up.

Liverpool have identified Zubimendi as their top target and according to The Athletic, Real Sociedad expect the 25-year-old to make the move.
But while there is optimism over Liverpool getting their man, there are a couple of stumbling blocks to get past.
Contracted until 2027, Zubimendi has a £51.7 million release clause and La Real wish for it to be paid in full rather than installments.

That could complicate proceedings for Liverpool, unless they are able to negotiate a lower transfer fee.
The other slight hurdle is whether Zubimendi asks to leave the club - though the Basque outfit won't stand in his way if he communicates his intentions to embark on a new chapter.
Zubimendi played 45 times for Real Sociedad last term and then helped Spain win the Euros in Germany.
He made just the one start for La Roja but came off the bench at half-time of the final to replace the injured Rodri and produced an impressive showing at the Olympiastadion.

Zubimendi has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent times and has been likened to both Sergio Busquets and Xabi Alonso.
Liverpool could be aided in their pursuit by the fact sporting director Richard Hughes has a good relationship with Zubimendi's agent Inaki Ibanez.
