Liverpool handed massive double injury boost ahead of Man City clash

Liverpool handed massive double injury boost ahead of Man City clash

Liverpool have two big fixtures this week.

Liverpool have been handed a massive double injury boost ahead of a huge week.

Liverpool occupy top spot in the Premier League as they continued their good run of form with a dramatic win over Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Darwin Nunez headed home in the 99th minute to seal a big win, with Virgil van Dijk taking a phone from the crowd in jubilant scenes.

Before resuming their Premier League campaign against second-placed Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp's charges return to Europa League action.

They face Sparta Prague on Thursday in the last-16 first leg.

And Klopp has been dealt a boost ahead of his side's big games this week.

Mohamed Salah has returned to training, having missed 12 games across all competitions through injury and Africa Cup of Nations duty.

He returned to the fold in Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Brentford, scoring a goal.

But he hasn't played for the Reds since picking up an injury.

Salah could be in contention to face Sparta and Man City this week.

The Egyptian star has scored an impressive 19 goals in all competitions, including 15 league goals in 21 games.

Speaking last Friday, Klopp said: "I don’t think Mo’s too far off, but he will not reach tomorrow, and from there we have to go.

"Like with the other two (Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai), touch and go and that stays with Mo, unfortunately, a bit longer.

"I think next week, at any point, it’s possible [he returns]. He’s on the way back definitely, but not there yet."

Elsewhere, Caoimhin Kelleher is not injured as reports surfaced on social media that he suffered an injury.

Kelleher has starred in net since deputising for Alisson, delivering a stellar showing in his side's Carabao Cup triumph.

The Irishman will continue to start in goal as the Brazilian remains sidelined.

The 25-year-old has played 18 games across all competitions this season.
