Liverpool 'submit official bid' for Federico Chiesa as fans left stunned by opening offer to Juventus

Liverpool 'submit official bid' for Federico Chiesa as fans left stunned by opening offer to Juventus

Liverpool's opening bid for Federico Chiesa has got fans talking.

Liverpool have submitted an opening bid for Federico Chiesa that has left fans stunned on social media.

Chiesa has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

Juventus are desperate to offload the star winger this summer as he's out of contract in 2025.

The Serie A giants are asking for a reported £12.7 million to sanction his transfer.

But Liverpool's reported opening bid is below Juve's valuation.

According to Mirko Di Natale, the Premier League side have lodged an initial bid of £8.4 million, which could rise to £10 million with add-ons.

The 26-year-old would be in line to earn £5.9 million per season.

Liverpool's offer sent social media wild as people online criticised the 'very low' bid.

One X user wrote: "Transfer fee alone, that's a bargain for Chiesa."

A second said: "Even if Juventus had said €1m, Liverpool would ask them to offer him for free."

A third added: "That's very low man."

Chiesa is also attracting interest from Chelsea, but he has made it clear that he wants to join Liverpool if the clubs can agree a fee.

The Reds have had a quiet summer transfer window, having only signed Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The 23-year-old Georgian will join, subject to a work permit and international clearance, for a fee of £25 million plus £4 million in add-ons.

Chiesa could be Arne Slot's second signing of the summer as the deadline looms.

The Italian international made 37 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring 10 goals.

He made a name for himself at Euro 2020 as he helped his national team to glory, which included beating England in the final.

But his development has been hampered by a series of injuries.
