A Liverpool fan has sadly passed away ahead of the club's Champions League clash against AC Milan.
Italian outlets Il Corriere della Sera and La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the supporter, 51, was hit by an SUV at 1am while crossing the A4 highway near the Orio al Serio airport in Bergamo.
It's claimed he had flown in from Manchester and arrived in Italy just before midnight.
According to the reports, the fan, who has not been identified, tried to cross the highway to reach the NH Hotel, where he booked his stay.

He reportedly made it across three lanes before he was struck by a car.
The Liverpool fan, who hailed from Ireland, had a ticket for the Champions League fixture at the San Siro, with the outlets claiming he also had his passport in his pocket.
Il Corriere della Serra also reported a father and son were seen with the victim but opted not to cross the highway.
They are working with the police following the incident, according to the report.

Local police are investigating if the fan was 'in an altered psychophysical state that may have influenced his actions' at the time of his death.
It is also being investigated whether he was led down the risky route by an app.
The tragedy took place less than 24 hours before Liverpool's opening game of this season's Champions League against AC Milan.
