Liverpool set to recall player after causing problems at his loan club with role which left team-mates 'astonished'

Liverpool set to recall player after causing problems at his loan club with role which left team-mates 'astonished'

The Reds' man has not enjoyed his time out on loan and could be set to return to Liverpool.

Liverpool could be set to ‘terminate’ a player’s loan, which would see him return to the club in January - but a Spanish club are 'interested'.

Arne Slot will no doubt be pleased with his start to life on Merseyside. His side currently sit top of both the Premier League and 36-team group stage at the season’s halfway point.

Tomorrow, they are set to take on Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United at Anfield, having previously convincingly beaten the Red Devils 3-0 back in September.

However, off the pitch, Slot, 46, has still had to deal with some high-profile controversies during his short time at the club. As you may well know, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are all out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season, and now that the transfer window is open, they can enter talks regarding a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.

But a forgotten man could be set to return to the club with Liverpool ‘in talks’ to terminate his current loan deal, according to Rousing The Kop.

The outlet reports that the Reds are in talks with RB Salzburg about cutting short Stefan Bajcetic’s loan. Bajcetic, 20, has made 12 Austrian Bundesliga appearances this season but has failed to produce a single goal or assist for the club.

It was thought that his loan was influenced by former Liverpool assistant coach Pepijn Lijnders, who was head coach at Salzburg at the start of the season but has since parted company with the club.

In October, Austrian outlet Krone reported that the Spaniard left his fellow players ‘astonished' by continually being called up to the starting XI despite not performing well on the pitch.

He was even fined by the club for being late to a training session. Now, Rousing The Kop reports that he has removed all mention of Salzburg from his Instagram and is ‘no longer happy’ at the Austrian side.

It is still unclear whether he would be part of Slot’s plans or be loaned to another club, with TBR explaining that Liverpool are “now in advanced discussion” with La Liga side Real Betis regarding a potential move.

Fabrizio Romano also issued an update on the news via X.

“Real Betis are in advanced talks to sign Stefan Bajcetic on a loan deal from Liverpool,” he wrote.

“Not done yet but progressing”
