Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed who his favourite signing has been since taking over at Anfield.
Klopp, 56, was appointed to the role back in 2015 and has since guided the team to a Premier League title, one Champions League trophy, one League Cup and one FA Cup throughout his time on Merseyside.
Successes which were made possible due to the strong level of recruitment within the squad, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson all arriving through the door to play major roles in the push for silverware.
However, despite just under £150 million being spent on the aforementioned names, as well as a vast amount of investment in other players within the squad, Klopp's favourite signing over the years actually cost the club nothing in terms of the transfer fee.

Speaking on the Pure Football Podcast, Klopp was asked who his favourite Liverpool signing was over the years. "It's Trent [Alexander-Arnold]," he said. "We didn't have to buy him but Pep Lijnders my assistant brought him around and said: 'He played No.6 [role] for me. He played full-back, he played right wing, left wing'.
"Then he came and there was only one problem: Trent was not fit enough. But he was a kid so he was not fit enough but we saw immediately, wow, football-wise no doubts.
"But [he was] not fit enough so we had to work on that. But then he made steps by himself that were really unbelievable and that was really nice to see. Then he made mistakes and didn't give up."

Alexander-Arnold has gone on to make just under 300 appearances for The Reds since being handed his senior debut by Klopp back in 2016. The Liverpool boss also made the decision to appoint the versatile defender to the role of vice-captain prior to the 2023/24 campaign beginning, where he has continued to grow into a leader amongst the squad as they go in search of another Premier League title.
