After being initially positive about the situation Jurgen Klopp has provided a damning update on Spanish midfielder Thiago.
Thiago has faced a significantly frustrating season, making his first appearance in 10 months as a second-half substitute against Arsenal at The Emirates earlier this month.
However, Thiago sustained a muscle problem during that game, with the initial indications being positive from Klopp who believed the injury wasn't particularly serious.

The situation appears to have got significantly bleaker for Thiago whose injury looks to be a recurrence of the hip injury that had originally kept him out since last April.
The 32-year-old's contract is up at the end of the season, and Klopp revealed that the prospect of him never playing for the club again is looking like a cruel reality.
"I don't know, to be honest (if he will play again this season)," Klopp said, speaking ahead of Liverpool's FA Cup tie against Southampton.

"It's a couple of things but what he has to do now from a medical point of view and I don't know if it will mean again if he can play again. It's not a short-term thing and that's why I'm not 100 percent in it. I'm not sure if it's the same but the region is the same."
Thiago was tipped to be a total game-changer when he joined Liverpool in 2020 following their Premier League title, but the Spaniard has endured countless injury struggles from the very start of his Anfield career.
Thiago was put out for 72 days just weeks into his spell at Liverpool after a challenge from Richarlison in the Merseyside derby which saw the Brazilian sent off.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder has since struggled with injuries to his: hamstring, hip, and thigh resulting in just 68 Premier League appearances across four seasons in England.
