Jamie Carragher tells FSG to take immediate action after watching Liverpool drop points at Nottingham Forest

Jamie Carragher tells FSG to take immediate action after watching Liverpool drop points at Nottingham Forest

Jamie Carragher has seen enough.

Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool to make one key signing following the club's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Arne Slot's side were forced to come from behind at Nottingham Forest, as Liverpool conceded an early Chris Wood goal.

Wood made no mistake as he grabbed his 13th Premier League goal of the season after being played in by Anthony Elanga.

However, despite an incredible five-save performance from Matz Sels, Liverpool eventually found their equaliser as substitute Diogo Jota headed home from close range.

Despite the result keeping Liverpool seven points clear in the title race with a game in hand, Jamie Carragher urged FSG to strengthen in one area this January.

The former Liverpool reacted to the game on X, posting: "Liverpool should’ve won tonight, but they continue to create big chances even in the games they don’t win, but the defensive solidity they had at the start of the season has gone. Always look likely to concede. Buy a defender!!!!"

Liverpool have conceded 20 goals in 20 games so far in the Premier League, a record only bettered by third placed Arsenal, but have only kept one clean sheet in their last seven.

Despite stats not seeming to completely back up his claim, Carragher could have a point when you factor in the very well documented contract situations regarding Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Following the draw at The City Ground Slot reflected on his side's performance with TNT Sport via The Telegraph.

"You need to be lucky with substitutions," he began.

"We know Jota can score a goal and Kostas has a good set-piece. Their goalkeeper had to make a few incredible saves but their defenders blocked almost every shot. there are not so many teams who can create sp many chances against a team that is so defensively string but we couldn’t get the second.

"Every time you get the ball you have to get past 11 players and they kick it long. First you have to win the second ball, then they go back in a low black with a good defenders and a good goalkeeper.

"That’s why I’m so happy with our performance in the second half.

"Forest can look back at a good game, they defended really well and we had a good second half. We were better than the last time we played Forest, that wasn’t difficult, we created few chances then but today we created a lot more.

"To win in the second half of the season is harder than the first but if we can continue with these performances like in the second half we won’t [have to settle for] a draw," he concluded.
