Elliott joined Liverpool from Fulham as a 16-year-old and made just three appearances for the London outfit.
Fulham fans jeered the 20-year-old's every touch in the opening stages of the game to the dismay of fans on social media.
His name was also booed when the line-ups were announced before kick-off.

One X user wrote: "Harvey Elliott was an academy player who made two senior appearances for Fulham and decided to leave them (after relegation) to move to his boyhood club and the Champions of Europe. Booing a player just because they used to play for you is so weird and makes zero sense."
A second tweeted: "Some boos for Harvey Elliott after leaving Fulham for Liverpool as-* checks notes *-a 16-year-old."
A third added: "Harvey Elliott's first touches this evening have been met with boos from the travelling fans. A reminder that he left Fulham as a 16-year-old. Bizarre."
A fourth said: "Fulham fans booing Harvey Elliott because, um, he was an academy player for them five years ago?"

Another commented: "Barely played for Fulham but Harvey Elliott booed by their away fans on his every
