First Real Madrid player breaks silence on Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially joining club from Liverpool

First Real Madrid player breaks silence on Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially joining club from Liverpool

A Madrid star has spoken out.

Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez has become the first player from the Spanish side to publicly address the rumours linking Trent Alexander-Arnold to the club.

Alexander-Arnold's future seems to be the number one topic of 2025, with the England international out of contract at the end of the season.

Reports from MARCA in Spain have claimed the Liverpool defender has already made his decision and will leave Anfield for Madrid on a free at the end of the season.

This would make Alexander-Arnold the second high-profile star to head to the Bernabeu for free in as many seasons following Kylian Mbappe's move in 2024.

Due to his own future at the club being unknown, Madrid veteran Vazquez broke his silence on the Alexander-Arnold rumours when commenting on a potential contract extension.

"It’s too soon to speak… I’m enjoying this season. Nothing more to say on that. Trent Alexander-Arnold? You mention players who are not here. We’re fully focused on the games," he said via Fabrizio Romano.

With Dani Carvajal injured and coming to the end of his career, Vazquez has often been used as a right-back this year under Ancelotti with the Liverpool defender expected to take his place in the eleven on arrival.

However, Trent will have been hoping Madrid weren't watching the Sky Sports analysis of Liverpool's 2-2 with Manchester United on Sunday.

The 26-year-old was torn to shreds for his performance, with Roy Keane directly referencing the rumours linking him to Madrid.

"There's talk about him going to Real Madrid. The way he's defending, he's going to Tranmere Rovers after this! He's got to do better," Keane insisted.

"He doesn't have to move house then, would he? No, he's got to do better defensively. He has to do better.

"Those chances for United, they're so easy. Just a couple of balls over the top.

"We talk about how brilliant Trent is going forward. Trent's defending today, my goodness. It's schoolboy stuff.

Keane added: "He doesn't have to move house then, would he? No, he's got to do better defensively. He has to do better."
