Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Juventus forward Federico Chiesa and fans have noticed something interesting.
The Italian forward is set to become Arne Slot’s first signing that will arrive at the club this season after Liverpool sealed a deal for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili who will join in 2025.
Chiesa was left out of the Juventus squad by new manager Thiago Motta ahead of the new season and had been linked with a move to Barcelona before Liverpool stepped up their interest in the 26-year-old.

Ahead of his move to Merseyside, Chiesa said at the airport: “I’m very happy, I can’t wait to become a new Liverpool player. Me and my family, we’re so happy really.”
New sporting director Richard Hughes said earlier in the window that Liverpool would be ‘opportunistic’ in the transfer market and a deal for Chiesa fits in with that philosophy given that he will cost an initial £10.9million.
Liverpool have netted a decent amount in sales this summer following the departures of Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho to Brentford as well as Bobby Clark to RB Salzburg but another deal in the Premier League has contributed to their transfer kitty.

Tottenham smashed their club transfer record to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for £65million and Liverpool benefited from the sale thanks to a 20% sell-on clause included in the deal to send him to the Vitality Stadium.
Liverpool banked almost £8m from the Solanke deal and fans have noticed it almost covered the entirety of Chiesa’s transfer fee.
One fan said: “And who were the two people who agreed on that sell-on clause back in the day? Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes. They were playing 4D chess all the way back then.”

Another said: “£3.3m spent.”
A third fan said: “If there is a trophy for this, Liverpool wins it every year.”
Another fan said: “Amazing deal tbh don’t get players for them prices often absolute class bit of business.”
Finally, a fifth fan said: “In todays market, Chiesa for a "Solanke bonus" is unbelievable business.”

Before the deal to sign Chiesa was agreed, new Liverpool boss Slot said the club’s lack of signings did not concern him heading into his first Premier League season.
“I trust the team,” he said. “I've said many times before I inherited a real good team, a team of many young players as well and I think we all know, especially young players they can develop on the ages they are at the moment.
“We just try to work as hard as we can with them and trust them a lot. They have proven last week they have earned this trust (by winning 2-0 at Ipswich Town in Liverpool's Premier League opener) and I am hoping they can show the same on Sunday as well.”
