Alexander Isak has been linked with a stunning move to Liverpool and Newcastle have named their price for the Sweden international.

Liverpool have wasted no time in the summer transfer window to improve Arne Slot’s title-winning squad and more recruits seem to be on the way.

Jeremie Frimpong replaced Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold while Liverpool shattered their transfer record to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez will complete a move in the coming days and Marc Guehi is also being targeted to replace Jarell Quansah.

Liverpool fans will be delighted with their business so far but one position remains a priority - their number nine.

Darwin Nunez is widely expected to leave the club amid interest from Napoli and the Saudi Pro League while Diogo Jota struggled for form and fitness last year.

The dream signing remains Newcastle’s Isak who cemented himself as one of the world’s top strikers with a stunning haul of 23 goals and six assists in the Premier League last season.

Social media has been sent into overdrive this week with rumours of Liverpool planning a stunning move for the Swede once Nunez has been moved on and a new report has provided an update on the situation.

As per The Telegraph, the sudden noise around a potential move to Anfield is nothing more than speculation with sources at both clubs confirming nothing has changed in Isak’s situation.

Liverpool remain interested in the forward like many other clubs around the world but do not expect to be able to sign the forward this summer.

Furthermore, the Magpies are under no pressure to sell their star forward who remains under contract for three more seasons and would require a huge fee to come to the negotiating table.

The report claims Newcastle would not demand a British transfer record but a fee that comes close to the world record fee of £200m that saw Neymar swap Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain.

Sources at Newcastle claim there has been no contact from Liverpool whatsoever about Isak and maintain the forward will not be sold.

What Alexander Isak has said about his future

Back in March, Isak commented on the rumours surrounding his future and stated his desire to help Newcastle secure Champions League football next season.

“There’s not much to say, really. I’ve commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times,” he told Fotbollskanal.

“It’s been written how much I love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I’m not thinking about the future.”

“I just want to perform for Newcastle. Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games. That’s where my focus lies.”
