Alan Shearer has made an intriguing prediction regarding Liverpool's search to replace Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp’s final game at Anfield is fast approaching as he seeks to end his legendary spell on Merseyside with as many trophies as possible.
Liverpool lifted the Carabao Cup in February but their hopes of a historic quadruple were dashed following an FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United.

Klopp’s side remain in the hunt for another Premier League title, sitting level on points with league leaders Arsenal who face Manchester City at the weekend. Liverpool will face Atalanta in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and could face their no.1 managerial target in the final.
Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is widely reported to be Fenway Sports Group’s first-choice manager to replace the German following a stunning season in Germany where he remains undefeated.
Liverpool aren’t the only club interested in Alonso and could face a real challenge to convince him to return to Anfield.

England legend Shearer believes the Spaniard will have the pick of any top job this summer and believes more clubs will part ways with their current manager at the end of the season.
He wrote for The Athletic: “The really intriguing thing is Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are looking for a new manager ahead of next season and I don't think they're the only big jobs that will become available this summer.
“With the job that Xabi Alonso is doing this season at Bayer Leverkusen, he'll have a pick of jobs if he wants them. That's the obvious link that loads of people have already made, given Alonso played for Liverpool.”

Shearer believes Alonso’s history with Liverpool could give them an advantage in the race for his signature.
“It’s Liverpool Football Club, one of the giants of world football,” he previously told The Rest Is Football podcast.
“Depending on clauses and everything else, I would think that would be too good for him to turn down if he was offered it. You’ve got to have belief in who you are and I would imagine that Xabi will do.”
