Lionel Messi had no doubts when naming the best goalkeeping performance he's ever seen

Lionel Messi is feared by many defenders and goalkeepers around the world.

Football great Lionel Messi has previously picked out the best goalkeeping performance he's ever seen.

Over the years, Argentine legend Messi has often been described as one of the best players to ever grace a football pitch.

In total, the 37-year-old has so far scored 752 goals in 928 across all competitions playing for the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Inter Miami.

On the international stage, Messi has been capped 213 times by Argentina, scoring 128 goals in the process.

During his illustrious career, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has played against some of the best goalkeepers from around the world, including the likes of Iker Casillas, Gianluigi Buffon and Alisson Becker.

However, it was one Englishman's performance that stood out for Messi.

Former Celtic stopper Fraser Forster impressed Messi during the Scottish club's famous 2-1 win over Barcelona back in 2012.

As per the Daily Star, Messi said: "The performances of Fraser Forster against us were talked about for a long time.

"There was one game in Scotland where he was not human, it is the best goalkeeping performance I have seen."

He added: "When Victor Valdes said he was leaving we even talked about him playing here. I was sure he would end up at Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United."

Messi's goal past Forster was a consolation strike in the 90th minute and the 36-year old was given the nickname 'The Great Wall of Glasgow' after producing seven saves.

He moved to Southampton from Celtic in 2014 and went on to play 162 times - briefly returning to the Bhoys in 2019/20.

Capped six times by England, Forster joined Spurs in 2022 and has made 34 appearances in all competitions.

On December 6 2023, Forster put pen to paper on a new deal at Spurs that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025.
