Laura Woods exclusively told SPORTbible about the weirdest Instagram DM she has ever received.
Woods, one of the most beloved broadcasters to have emerged in recent years, will be the lead Champions League presenter for the newly rebranded TNT Sport.
Having propelled herself to national attention on Sky Sports and TalkSPORT, Woods leads a female-fronted presentation team for the new venture’s football properties.

Of course, the 36-year-old’s rise has coincided with unwanted attention on social media and at times, utterly peculiar behaviour from fans looking to get the presenter’s attention.
Indeed, Woods once detailed how a contingent of fans would tell her that she has “boat feet” whenever she posts a picture on Instagram where she is without shoes.
But speaking to SPORTbible, the TNT anchor revealed the weirdest DM she has ever received, with one admirer resorting to very strange behaviour in an ill-fated bid to woo her.

Woods explained: “There was this era where this guy used to send around this picture - and I've seen it in other places, it wasn’t just in my DMs - but it was a picture of someone's nan in a cage, like a life-size cage.
“And he would say, ‘Laura, my nan's hungry, she wants to get out of the cage. But I'll only let her out if you go for a drink with me.’
“I'd read it and not reply, obviously. And then he would come back a week later and go, ‘She's still in there. Laura, please let her out.’”

When questioned about whether the method had been at all successful, Woods confirmed: “She is still in the cage. But that's one of many [strange DMs]. There are a lot.”
Speaking at the TNT launch event, Woods also expressed her blend of excitement and nerves after taking the reins as the broadcaster’s lead anchor.
She admitted: “It is a little bit nerve-wracking when you get a new job. And it’s also such a big launch. I do feel a little bit overwhelmed.
“But I think that when it actually gets down to it, and we can all kind of do our proper jobs and things like that, I think it'd be really great.”
