Jose Mourinho has been linked with a sensational return to the Premier League, with one club reportedly offering £5 million to prise him away from Fenerbahce.

Following his sacking from Roma, Mourinho took the Fenerbahce job in the summer and the Turkish giants are currently second in the Super Lig, six points behind league leaders Galatasaray.

However, fresh reports from As Marca in Turkey say that Wolverhampton Wanderers have tabled an offer of £5 million to entice him back to England.

The Midlands outfit are 19th in the Premier League after 15 games and it's claimed they want to replace struggling boss Gary O'Neil with the three-time Premier League winner "as soon as possible".

Mourinho is vastly experienced in the Premier League, having managed Chelsea, Manchester United and Spurs, his last club in England following his sacking in 2021.

He penned a €10.5 million-per-year contract to take the Fenerbahce job, with the deal due to last until June 2026.

But Mourinho has expressed his unhappiness over football in Turkey and back in November, he made bombshell comments claiming Galatasaray are favoured and claimed "nobody abroad wants to watch the Turkish league" in a box office interview last week.

Around the same time, it was reported that Mourinho still feels as though he has unfinished business in the Premier League and viewed the Newcastle United job as his best opportunity to manage in the English top tier.

O'Neil is under immense pressure at Molineux after suffering yet another defeat on Monday night, losing 2-1 to West Ham at the London Stadium. But while his future at the club looks to be in under threat, O'Neil has defended his position as manager.

"I know we have only nine points and we're in a tough spot in the league but they're giving everything," he told Sky Sports.

"So I hope the supporters are still proud from the players even though they hate the position we're in. They won't hate it more than me. I'm right there with them, whether they know it or not.

"We won't give up and we'll keep pushing. A big game against Ipswich is coming. And hopefully a few of the little bits, our bits, the bits from the officials go our way."
