On Saturday, Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley to claim a record-extending 15 Champions League.

The showpiece event attracted the world’s media and stars, with Mourinho the special guest for TNT Sport’s coverage.

And the Portuguese manager issued a sly remark about about Wenger's proposed offside law change, with the former Arsenal boss also attending the game.

Wenger, who is now FIFA's chief of global football development, has proposed the 'daylight' principle, which stipulates that a player is onside if any part of their body that can score a goal is behind or level with the relevant defender.

His proposition in 2020 was backed by FIFA boss Gianni Infantino and trialled in Sweden, Italy and the Netherlands.

The Times has claimed that Wenger is now proposing the change to football's law-making body, the International FA Board.

And upon presenter Laura Woods suggesting she may bring Wenger over for TNT Sports' post-match coverage, Mourinho said: "Ask him about what he wants to do with the offside, oh my God. Let me go before please."

The comment sparked Woods and fellow pundits Steve McManaman and Rio Ferdinand were into fits of laughter, with the latter exclaiming: "Jose!"

On the proposed law change, a FIFA spokesperson told The Times: "The discussion around changing the offside law is not new and it is not something we will see introduced at higher levels imminently.

"The idea was first discussed in 2020 as we felt it was something worth exploring and testing to see the effect it could have on the game. Fifa committed to trialling the amended offside law, favouring the attacker, which has been applied in selected youth competitions across Europe.

"We will continue with these trials, assess the results and discuss with all relevant stakeholders."
