Team GB footballer Gemma Wiseman, who represented her nation at the Deaf World Championships, was found dead nine days before Christmas, it has been announced.
Wiseman, who was 33, was part of the Great Britain team that finished third at the Deaf World Championships in 2016, which took place in Salerno, Italy.
She was also part of the Team GB side that secured third place and a bronze medal at the 2013 Deaflympics, which was held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
She was married to Laura Wiseman, who is also deaf and played for the England national team, as well as being nominated for a National Pride of Sport award in 2017.
Gemma's body was found in a woodland by a member of the public in Rackheath, Norwich, with the medical cause of death being given as 'constriction of neck structures'. A further hearing has been set for July 29.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds for the footballer's funeral, with a statement on the page reading:
"Gemma was a kind and caring person with a great sense of humour. Everywhere she went she brought laughter and energy with her and easily made friends with anyone who was lucky enough to meet her.
"Gemma leaves behind her devoted wife, Laura, and three year old daughter who are at a complete loss without her.
"We are kindly asking for donations to help pay for Gemma's funeral and give her the send off she truly deserves. So if you are able to donate anything at all, this would be hugely appreciated.
"Laura is extremely grateful for everyone's help and support at this difficult time."
The page was set up earlier this week, and has raised £8,525 at the time of writing.
Alongside playing for England, Wiseman also supported initiatives for girls ran by the Norfolk FA, and also played for a number of other local sides.
The Norfolk FA said in a statement: "All at Norfolk County FA are deeply saddened to hear the news of Gemma Wiseman, who tragically died shortly before Christmas.
"Our thoughts go to Gemma's family and friends at this difficult time."
