Everton have withdrawn their appeal against a Premier League points deduction, the club has confirmed.
The Merseyside club were docked two points after an independent commission found they had breached Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) by £16.6m for the three-year period to 2022-23.
On Friday Everton released the following statement:

"Everton Football Club has withdrawn its appeal of the decision by a Premier League Independent Commission to impose a two-point deduction on the club for a breach of the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules for the accounting period ending June 2023.
"A hearing, scheduled for later this month, will now not proceed, and the club will conclude the 2023/24 Premier League season with the two-point deduction remaining in place."
In February, the Toffees had a 10-point deduction - for breaching PSR for the three-year period ending in 2021-22 - reduced to six upon appeal.

Sean Dyche's side recently secured Premier League survival despite being docked eight points in total this term.
However, the club could still face a points deduction for the 2024-25 season.
One outstanding issue that the previous commission did not resolve is related to an ongoing disagreement regarding whether interest payments on loans provided for Everton’s working capital are due to stadium costs or club operations.

The issue is expected to be resolved before the start of next season, so any potential points deduction would be enforced in the 2024-25 season.
Everton will look to put those issues to one side and finish a difficult season on a positive note.
On Saturday Dyche's side will host already-relegated Sheffield United at Goodison Park in their final home match of the campaign.
On the final day of the season the Toffees could play a huge role in the Premier League title race when they face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
