Ex-Man Utd Boss Erik Ten Hag Made Shock Favourite for Huge Job as Odds Slashed

Odds have been slashed on Erik ten Hag landing the job.

Bookmakers have slashed odds on Erik ten Hag filling a huge vacancy at a shock club.

Ten Hag is out of work following his short spell in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, who relieved him of his duties last month.

He was appointed by the Bundesliga side in the summer, having been fired by Manchester United in October after two-and-a-half years at the Old Trafford hot seat.

A swift return to management could be on the cards given the odds on who will succeed Vitor Pereira at Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following Wolves' crushing 3-0 defeat at Fulham.

A statement on social media read: "Wolves have parted company with head coach Vitor Pereira. We would like to thank Vitor and his staff for their tireless work during their time at Molineux."

Odds on who will be Wolves' next manager have been published in the wake of Pereira's dismissal.

At the time the odds emerged, Ten Hag was 2/1 on favourite - along with Brendan Rodgers - to replace the Portuguese at Wolves.

The odds have fluctuated since they were published, with Ten Hag (at the time of writing) 5/2 to land the Wolves job.

Sergio Conceicao is also in the mix, with the former Porto gaffer priced at 6/1.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has odds of 10/1 to succeed Pereira at Wolves, while Kevin Muscat, who was linked with the Rangers vacancy, priced at 12/1.

Coventry City boss Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, who was mooted to return to Rangers, have odds of 14/1.

Several names are in the conversation to replace Pereira at Wolves, who parted ways with the 57-year-old despite handing him a new deal in September.

Executive chairman Jeff Shi said: "Vitor and his team worked tirelessly for Wolves and helped guide us through a challenging period last season, for which we are grateful.

"Unfortunately, the start to this season has been a disappointment and, despite our strong desire to give the head coach time and matches to find an improvement, we have reached a point where we must make a change.

"We thank Vitor and his staff for their efforts and wish them the very best for the future."

It remains to be seen whether Wolves will have a new manager in place for their next game against Chelsea on Saturday.
