Cole Palmer showed fans messages with Morgan Rogers after Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
Palmer, 22, scored a stunning left-footed effort against Unai Emery’s side on Sunday, having earlier provided an assist for Enzo Fernandez’s goal.
Rodgers, 22, who played for Man City with Palmer between 2019 and 2023, started for the game for Villa but failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.

Shortly after the game finished, Palmer posted a story to Instagram, which no doubt rubbed salt into Rogers’ wounds.
Chelsea’s number ten uploaded a photograph of his ‘Player of the Match’ award from Sunday’s game, which was accompanied by a screenshot of a conversation the pair had on Snapchat - presumably ahead of the game.
“No goals against [Aston] Villa,” said Rogers [under the username ‘Morgzzz’].

“Player of the Match is coming back with me,” Palmer replied.
The Villa man then replied with a photograph of the pair from the last time they faced each other during a 2-2 draw at Villa Park in April 2024.
The Villa playmaker celebrated using the ‘Cold’ celebration after scoring Villa’s second on that occasion.

"Yeah, he [Cole Palmer] definitely copied me,” he joked after April’s fixture.
“It's my celebration. Check the timeline. I did it first
"He's one of my closest friends, not just in football but in life generally. So to see him doing so well, couldn't be more proud of him, really.
"I think he's now showing everyone what I and a lot of people knew he could do two or three years ago, so it's a pleasure to, and now everyone can see it."

Rogers scored in the game back in April, while Palmer did not provide a goal or assist.
But the Manchester-born man had the last laugh on Sunday as Chelsea went third in the league as they sit below Arsenal on alphabetical order only.
The pair now share the same ‘Cold’ celebration, which Palmer conceded was Rogers’ idea, having used it during his time at Middlesbrough.
“My boy Morgz [Rogers] did one for Middlesbrough, so I told him I’d do it too if I scored,” Palmer said previously.

“I'll let him have it,” Rogers told TNT Sports after Villa's UEFA Champions League win over Bayern Munich in October.
“He's scored 40 goals or something stupid. Can't really argue with that, can I?”
