Fans stunned after finding out how much Chelsea are paying Carney Chukwuemeka

Fans stunned after finding out how much Chelsea are paying Carney Chukwuemeka

Carney Chukwuemeka has been told he can leave Chelsea but his rumoured wages have shocked fans.

Carney Chukwuemeka could be the next Chelsea player to leave but fans have been left staggered by his current earnings at the club.

Signed in 2022 from Aston Villa, Chukwuemeka has played just 27 times for Chelsea across two seasons after struggling with injuries.

He was fit for the visit of champions Manchester City this weekend but as was the case with Raheem Sterling, Chukwuemeka was left out due to a "technical decision" from Enzo Maresca.

And in his post-match press conference, Maresca hinted that it may be best for the midfield to move on this summer in order to get the game-time he deserves.

He said: "I think every case is different. Carney, I think he is a very good player.

"The problem is, because of some injuries in the past, I think the best for him is to play 30 or 35 games in a row, to show himself that he is fit and how good he is because he is very good. With us, is he going to play 35 games? I'm not sure."

Contracted until 2028, Chukwuemeka has a shorter deal than most at Stamford Bridge.

Yet according to Alan Nixon from The Sun, the 20-year-old earns a staggering £115,000-a-week and that is making it harder for Chelsea to shift him.

But his reported wage prompted reaction aplenty from fans online, who can't believe his pay packet.

One fan wrote: "Why on earth was he given wages like that? What had he done to justify anything near that? A very talented youngster, yes, but that is just outrageous!"

Another said: He’s on HOW much a week?! Chelsea under Clearlake is an absolute Circus and I’m fully here for it."

A third fumed: "£115k a week for a player with 2 Premier League starts before joining Chelsea."

A fourth added: "No wonder why he was so desperate to leave Villa. From £2,000 a week to over £100,000. Insane money for a kid who hadn’t proved himself at any level."

A final person wrote: "Hahah who signed off on those wages? No wonder he couldn’t wait to p*** off."
