Filipe Luis has admitted the biggest regret of his career involves former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria.
The 38-year-old full-back, who will retire at the end of the 2023/24 campaign following spells at Deportivo, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, opened up about his career in an interview with YouTube channel Charla Podcast this week.
Luis touched on a number of subjects, including his biggest regret; when he spoke to Angel Di Maria about his wife, Jorgelina Cardoso, during a game between Atletico and Real Madrid.

After being tipped off by Di Maria's international teammate Sergio Aguero, the Brazilian mentioned Cardoso as a distraction tactic.
It appeared to work, with Luis "beating him the whole game" but to this day, he still feels bad about the incident.
In fact, an emotional Luis asked for forgiveness on the podcast. "My biggest regret was with Di Maria," he said. "[Sergio] Aguero told me: 'If you talk about his wife, he will lose his composure.'

"I mentioned his wife and he was devastated. I outplayed him the whole game, and he didn't do well. I came home and I regretted it so much. Di Maria, I'm sorry."
Earlier this year, Luis said he felt "betrayed" by Jose Mourinho during his short spell at Chelsea.
After joining the ranks at Stamford Bridge from Atletico in 2014 for a reported £15.8 million, the Brazilian made just 21 appearances for the Blues before returning to Los Colchoneros in 2015.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he opened up on being left out of their opening game of the campaign.

Luis said: “When I was on the bench for the first game of the season I knocked on Mourinho’s office door and said: ‘Why did you bring me here? Why didn’t you just leave me at Atletico?’
“He said that he didn’t feel as secure defensively with me in the team as he did with Azpilicueta.”
It was a frustrating season in West London. “At the time I felt betrayed for want of a better word," Luis added. "I did not want to work for Mourinho for another year. But it was not his fault. We won the final and I have the medal at home!”

As mentioned above, Luis will retire at the end of the season after a 20-year career.
"The feeling that is left is only one, of gratitude," he said after confirming his retirement. "Thank you very much. These were the best years of my life, without a doubt."
