A new club has joined the race to sign in-form Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Gyokeres, 26, is one the most in-form forwards in Europe at the moment, having registered 33 goals and six assists in 31 appearances for Sporting this season.
As a result of his impressive performances, the Sweden international has attracted the interest of several clubs with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all thought to be keen on the player.

Earlier in the season, he was heavily linked with potential move to United due to the fact he was managed by Ruben Amorim at the Portuguese club.
And given their lack of goalscoring threat in recent months, Arsenal’s fans are certainly open to the idea of a player of Gyokeres’ quality joining the club.
However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein explained how the Gunners aren't prioritising a move for the player when speaking with Sky Sports.

“The Sesko one I do think is an option for the summer,” he said. “After that, you look towards different profiles like Gyokeres and players of that ilk, but I don’t think that is one that Arsenal have been prioritising for the style, and I don’t think Viktor Gyokeres is prioritising Arsenal either."
Now, a shock club has now joined the race to sign the player but another thing has to happen before the team potentially pursues Gyokeres.
According to Football Transfers, Newcastle United have “held fresh talks” over a potential move for the forward.

But the supposed interest could be influenced by Alexander Isak’s future. Meaning Gyokeres could act as a like-for-like replacement if Isak were to leave the Premier League club.
TEAMtalk reports that bidding for Isak, 25, would likely start at the £115m mark, which would become a British record.
Liverpool are described to be the ‘most persistent suitors’ regarding the Newcastle forward, who has scored 17 goals in 24 appearances for the Magpies this term.
The Swede’s current Newcastle contract is set to run until June 2028 and he is valued at around £63.4m by Transfermarkt but Eddie Howe's side would likely command a fee well north of this.

As for Gyokeres, he is contracted to Sporting until June 2028 and has a release clause of £83.16m according to BBC Sport.
