Luis Enrique sensationally axes PSG star from his squad for Champions League clash with Arsenal

Luis Enrique sensationally axes PSG star from his squad for Champions League clash with Arsenal

A huge and unexpected call from the PSG manager.

PSG boss Luis Enrique has sensationally decided to drop one of his key players from the travelling squad to face Arsenal in the Champions League, it has been reported.

The French side travel to north London off their back of their narrow 1-0 victory over Girona on gameweek one.

Nuno Mendes' cross went in off goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga in stoppage time to give PSG victory.

In Ligue 1, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele have been the side's top scorers, with six and four goals respectively.

But PSG will reportedly have to do without Dembele against the Gunners after Enrique made the late call to axe him from the squad.

That's according to RMC Sport's Fabrice Hawkins, who says that the France winger will not travel to the Emirates Stadium.

L'Equipe have also reported the decision, claiming that Dembele had a 'heated argument' with Enrique after PSG's 3-1 win over Rennes on Friday.

Although the 27-year-old started and registered an assist, it is claimed that the pair were involved in a war of words after the match.

Dembele has therefore been disciplined with an effective one-match suspension, meaning he will play no part against Arsenal.

He has been a key player for PSG this season as the French giants adapt to life without Kylian Mbappe following the forward's free transfer to Real Madrid.

With four goals and three assists in six games, Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta would have been planning for Dembele to play a significant role at the Emirates Stadium.

But the Gunners will now have to change their thinking ahead of the clash as they look to record their first win of the new Champions League season.

Arsenal drew 0-0 away at Atalanta in their opening game, with David Raya pulling off a superb double save - including keeping out a penalty - to keep the scores level in Bergamo.
