The English Football League and the PGMOL are set to introduce a fresh VAR change that concerns the referees.
Since the introduction of VAR in the Premier League in the 19/20 season, the technology has been criticised on multiple occasions due to major blunders being made.
In the Carabao Cup, VAR is not used until the semi-final stage. But ahead of this year's clashes, there is set to be a huge change.

Taking to their official website on Monday afternoon, EFL announced that referees will announce their final decisions to the stadium following a visit to the VAR monitor during what will be a trial period.
A statement read: "VAR will be in place for this season’s Carabao Cup Semi-Finals, along with the first use of in-stadium VAR announcements in English football.
"As part of the trial, referees will announce (over the stadium public address system) the final decision following a visit to the VAR pitchside monitor, or upon the conclusion of factual matters such as accidental handball by a goalscorer or offside judgements. Only the final decision will be announced in the stadium."

Prior to being trialled in the Carabao Cup, in-stadium announcements were used during the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup and will 'aim to provide greater clarity and understanding around key decisions to supporters in the stadiums and those watching from home'.
It has been said that the trial is part of the PGMOL's 'broader commitment to transparency and embracing technological advancements for the benefit of Match Officials and fans'.
The trial will take place for both legs of Arsenal vs Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool, with the first legs taking place at the Emirates Stadium on January 7 and at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on January 8.
