Why Bayern Munich fans are protesting against kit Harry Kane and Co will wear next season

Bayern Munich fans are not happy about the new design.

There is a simple reason why Bayern Munich fans are protesting against the kit Harry Kane and his teammates will wear next season.

It's fair to say it has been a disappointing season for Bayern Munich, a club whose supporters have become accustomed to constant success over the past decade.

Bayern won 11 straight Bundesliga titles between 2013 and 2023, but this season they were blown away by Xabi Alonso's undefeated Bayer Leverkusen.

Back in November Thomas Tuchel's side were dumped out of the German cup by third division outfit Saarbrucken, and last week they suffered a late collapse against Real Madrid to exit the Champions League at the semi-final stage.

Despite Harry Kane scoring a remarkable 44 goals in his first 45 games for the club, Bayern will finish a season trophyless for the first time since 2011-12.

Tuchel will depart the club at the end of the season, meaning Bayern fans can look forward to a completely fresh start next term.

However, that new beginning has already gotten off to a bad start.

On Sunday Bayern beat Wolfsburg 2-0 at the Allianz Arena in their final home match of the season.

The Rekordmeister took the opportunity to debut their new home kit for the 2024-25 campaign, but many of their supporters were less than impressed.

The new kit, produced by Adidas, has sparked controversy as it is the first home shirt in the club's history that doesn't feature the colour white.

During Sunday's match, the club's ultras standing in the Sud Kurve held up a banner that read: "The club colours are red and white."

Bayern's home shirts have changed quite a lot in recent years, with some designs being predominantly red and others features stripes.

This 2023-24 shirt was somewhat controversial as it was mainly white with a bit of red, but it still stuck to the main colours.

Next season's strip is red with black detailing and a blacked out club badge. Ironically, it looks more like a Bayer Leverkusen shirt than a Bayern one.
