Championship player's dream move to Barcelona on verge of collapsing as Fabrizio Romano gives update

Championship player's dream move to Barcelona on verge of collapsing as Fabrizio Romano gives update

Fabrizio Romano has shared a update on Barcelona's pursuit of a Championship player.

Fabrizio Romano has provided a big update on Barcelona's pursuit of a Championship star - and it doesn't look good for the budding player.

Barca are looking to recruit new players this summer ahead of the 2024/25 season.

And they have been 'offered the chance' to sign a World Cup winner for a cut-price deal.

The La Liga giants have also been keeping tabs on Hull City's Jaden Philogene, who was denied the 'goal of the century' last season.

Their pursuit of Philogene came after positive reports, but a deal for the 22-year-old is now 'complicated' and 'unlikely' to happen.

That's according to transfer expert Romano, who tweeted: "Jaden Philogene’s move to Barcelona looks now complicated and unlikely as he’s giving priority to Premier League move."

He added that Crystal Palace, Everton and Ipswich Town have 'sent him proposals' regarding a summer move.

"Understand three clubs have sent him proposals: Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, Everton," said Romano.

"Decision expected soon."

Philogene, born in London, began his footballing journey at Aston Villa, where he joined the club's youth academy.

He made three Premier League appearances for Villa. He spent time away from Villa Park, enjoying loan spells at Stoke City and Cardiff City.

Last summer, though, Philogene left Villa on a permanent deal, signing for Hull for an undisclosed fee.

And the winger had a prolific debut campaign at Hull as he scored 12 goals in 32 appearances.

But after making a name for himself in the Championship, he won't be swapping England for Spain.

A move to a top flight club, however, seems to be on the cards.
