Fans can't believe who plays starring role in Aston Villa's 'outstanding' kit launch video and it's going viral

It has been described as "a masterstroke".

Aston Villa have unveiled their new home kit for the 2024/25 season with a kit launch featuring arguably the most famous figure in heavy metal history.

The Villains will suit up in Adidas for the first time ever after they announced a multi-year partnership with the German sportswear brand, who will replace previous supplier Castore.

To celebrate the launch, Villa have created a memorable promotional video featuring Black Sabbath legend Ozzy Osbourne, who played a starring role in the video alongside bandmate Geezer Butler.

The home kit is a tribute to the club's past and includes an ‘AV 150’ symbol on the back of the jersey.

It also features their new club crest, as well as an ‘1874’ sign-off and Adidas’ iconic three-stripes branding. But it was the appearance of Osbourne that grabbed the headlines. Check out the promo below:

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the video.

One said: "Getting Ozzy Osbourne in there is a masterstroke," while a second wrote: "Put simply — the best kit launch video I’ve ever seen."

A third commented: "We’ve come a long way since we did kit reveals coming down an escalator next to a Nando’s haven’t we?"

A fourth said: "This is a great piece of advertising by @AVFCOfficial for their kit launch. So good to see our music heritage and culture beginning to seep into the marketing of our city and its institutions."

A fifth added: "Ozzy Osbourne promoting Aston Villa's new Adidas kit launch wasn't on our 2024 Bingo cards."

Osbourne, who rose to prominence during the '70s as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, will perform two farewell gigs at Villa Park in the future, according to his wife, Sharon.

"He won’t tour again but we are planning on doing two more shows to say goodbye as he feels like, 'I have never said goodbye to my fans and I want to say goodbye'," she said.

"His voice is still absolutely perfect. And all the time he has been off he still does his singing lessons. Even if you don’t like his music, you can’t not like Ozzy. We will do it in Aston Villa where Ozzy is from."
