Roy Keane has made a damning claim about Arsenal after their 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League.

Arsenal twice led through goals from Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino, but Liverpool equalised through Virgil van Dijk and then Mohamed Salah's second half strike.

The result means Liverpool drop off the top of the Premier League table, with Arsenal five points behind new leaders Manchester City in third place.

But Arsenal were clearly not happy with the result - with Saka making those feelings perfectly clear in an honest post-match interview.

And speaking on Sky Sports, Manchester United legend Keane gave his verdict on what went wrong for Arsenal - as well as making a damning claim about their second half performance.

He said: "I'm starting to worry about this Arsenal mentality now.

"They're 2-1 up, and I'm still looking and thinking, 'Go on and try and win the game'.

"But there's elements of Arsenal now, and it's happened most of the season, when they get themselves in front - I don't mind excuses about injuries or going down 10 men - they seem to just sit back in, like they're settling for 2-1 or trying to get something on the set piece. Instead of going, 'Go and get the third goal'.

"Liverpool were there for the taking, if they wanted to go for it. But it was almost, 'Let's hope we can win 2-1'. And when you're up against good players like Salah, then they're good enough to punish you."

He later continued: "There is positives [with players being out]. They're not going to panic - they'll be disappointed with some of the results and obviously some of those self-inflicted with some of the sending offs.

"But I'm looking at some of their performances, and the positions they've got themselves in.

"Today, they end up 2-1 at home to Liverpool, who didn't look at their very best. There was an element of calmness to Liverpool.

"I still look at the mentality of this Arsenal side... today, when you're watching them live, 2-1 up, whatever the circumstances with injury. Can you go on and, not take silly gambles, but can you take the initiative?

"Today, they were 2-1 up, and they just stepped back. They were time wasting, they were trying to kill the game, I get it.

"But if you're the home team and you're 2-1 up, use the initiative, use the fans behind you, and I just worry about that belief, that mentality.

"Do they really have that belief and conviction that they're a top team and they can really challenge Manchester City? I still don't see it.

"They've made great progress, and it seems really critical, but you have to look at it comparing them to Man City and where they've got to in the last few years."
