French media mock Emirates atmosphere and brand Arsenal player a 'nightmare' after PSG win

Arsenal were beaten by Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday night.

The media in France have made their feelings clear on Arsenal after Paris Saint Germain's win at the Emirates Stadium.

On Tuesday night, the first leg of the Champions League semi-final between Arsenal and PSG took place in North London.

French winger Ousmane Dembele netted in the fourth minute, which proved to be the winner as Luis Enrique's men secured a vital 1-0 win.

Next week, the pair will battle again at the Parc des Princes with a place in the Champions League final up for grabs.

Prior to kick-off, the Gunners fans unveiled a tifo in front of the stand, which was quickly mocked by many on social media.

Speaking after the match, Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney was critical of the Arsenal fans, claiming the atmosphere was a far cry from the Real Madrid match.

Rooney's feelings were echoed by French publication RMC Sport, which labelled the Emirates as 'Cathedral Silence'.

Meanwhile, several outlets were heavily critical of Arsenal star Jurrien Timber.

Get French Football News gave the Dutchman a rating of just four out of 10, citing that he struggled to deal with PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

In addition, Maxi Foot stated that Timber endured a 'nightmare' performance and was given a damning rating of just three out of 10.

Timber was eventually replaced by Ben White with 83 minutes on the clock.

Speaking after the match, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said: "We’re disappointed with the result because I think we merited much more than what we got.

"After having a difficult start, especially when they scored so early in a really good combination, they had the quality to open you up and finish the way they did. But after that, I think the team started to get better and better."

The Gunners are back in Premier League action this weekend when they host Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
