Worrying footage of David Raya emerges in Etihad Stadium mixed zone after Man City vs Arsenal thriller

Worrying footage of David Raya emerges in Etihad Stadium mixed zone after Man City vs Arsenal thriller

The Arsenal goalkeeper was in inspired form once again in the Gunners' 2-2 draw at Manchester City.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya could be seen limping as he left the Etihad Stadium on Sunday as worrying footage from the mixed zone inside the ground emerged online.

Raya made nine saves in total during the Gunners' 2-2 draw with Manchester City and was influential throughout the contest.

However, little could be done as John Stones smashed home a last-gasp equaliser for Pep Guardiola's side in injury time to deny Arsenal a landmark victory at the home of their fierce title rivals.

The former Brentford man was in inspired form throughout the contest with his side having to battle with 10 men for all of the second half.

Following the game, however, Raya was captured on camera emerging from the dressing room and walking past reporters on his way out of the stadium and looked to be nursing an injury.

Captured by MailSport, the 29-year-old could be seen moving gingerly, with a bandage strapped around his right knee.

Refusing to speak to the media in the aftermath, the footage will be of concern for Arsenal supporters.

It remains to be seen whether Raya has picked up an injury, which would leave Arteta with a dilemma after the club sold Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton in the summer.

Arsenal have Bolton Wanderers next up in the Carabao Cup, with it relatively unknown whether Arteta will choose to rotate his squad.

Neto, who joined from Bournemouth in the summer, is not eligible to feature in the competition having already done so for the Cherries.

Arteta admitted in the aftermath he was proud of his players for their battling performance against the reigning Premier League champions.

"We had a very difficult start in the first 10-15 minutes," Arteta said in his post-match press conference.

"We were struggling to control certain spaces and we didn’t have enough ability to get out of the first 25-30 metres of the pitch which meant that we never controlled the game.

"After that, we started to understand what we had to do, we were much more efficient.

"Obviously, we were thrown into a context that made it almost impossible for 56 minutes, but anyway, we adapted to that context in the best possible way and the way the team competed was just unbelievable. I’m so proud of the team.

"You can’t be thrown into a more difficult situation against that kind of opponent and the way we handled that. I’m so proud."
