Alvaro Morata gives update on his condition amid fears Spain star could miss Euros final after freak incident

Alvaro Morata gives update on his condition amid fears Spain star could miss Euros final after freak incident

Morata limped off the pitch against France.

Spain captain Alvaro Morata appears to have avoided serious injury following a bizarre full-time incident following his side's victory against France in Tuesday's Euro 2024 semi-final.

France initially took the lead through Randal Kolo Muani, as the PSG forward headed in a cross from Kylian Mbappe.

However, Spain quickly responded with two unbelievable goals. 16-year-old Lamine Yamal scored the equaliser, followed by a goal from Dani Olmo, securing the victory for Luis de la Fuente's side.

Yamal's goal was the pick of the bunch, as the teenage sensation cut in from the right wing to curl a delightful long-range effort into the top corner to become the youngest goalscorer in Euros history.

Following the game Morata was involved in an unfortunate incident with a photographer that left the forward limping off the pitch with the final just days ago.

While trying to apprehend a pitch invader the photographer slipped and collided with Morata, completely taking him out.

The Spanish captain was in visible discomfort following the incident, which appeared to be centered around the striker's knee.

Following the match Spain boss, Luis de la Fuente's said: “With Álvaro, we are going to wait until tomorrow. We don’t think it was anything, it was during the celebrations but we think he’s going to be OK.”

When asked about his physical condition after the incident with the security guard, Morata joked it was "a yellow card and that's it" and that his presence in the final was not in danger.

The 31-year-old was named Spain's permanent captain last year. He has been capped 79 times for his country, scoring 36 goals.

Morata has started every game so far in Germany and will be desperate to ensure he is fit from the start for the final in Berlin.
