Fans couldn't believe that Alexis Sanchez managed to avoid a red card on Tuesday night, after his studs up challenge on Thiago.

Inter Milan went into their game with Liverpool knowing that only one team had lost the first leg at home by two goals to comeback and go through in the Champions League.

Simeone Inzaghi made some changes to the side that lost 2-0 in the San Siro a few weeks earlier, with Sanchez replacing Edin Dzeko the main headline, after the former Manchester City man wasted some chances in the first leg.

Sanchez looked relatively dangerous with his runs in the first half, occasionally getting in behind the Reds defence, but it rarely came to anything.

However the former Manchester United forward was at his most dangerous with a studs up challenge on Thiago that eventually drew a yellow card from the ref, though some felt he should have been sent off.

Horrible studs up challenge from Sanchez on Thiago. Belatedly booked

Thiago is down now after a late one from Sanchez. Referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz has not been great.

That challange on Thiago by Sanchez could easily have been a red on another day and with another team. The bias is unreal when it comes to Liverpool.

Sanchez gets a red card and 2 weeks jail time for that tackle on Thiago if it was Premier League.

— Saddam (@Saddam_KE) March 8, 2022

I’m sorry Sanchez should be off for that tackle on Thiago

— Stef Khan (@Stef_Khan) March 8, 2022

Sanchez high boot on Thiago bordered on a red, he didn't even get a yellow.

That was a shocking fucking tackle by Sanchez on Thiago right in front of the twat. https://t.co/h8aU0qZ3lA

Not even a booking for Sanchez. Disgraceful decision but not surprising giving they’ve let the surviving Chuckle brother referee the game.

Should Sanchez have been sent off?
