Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move away from Chelsea following his omittance from their Champions League squad.

The 33-year-old striker has struggled to find his feet since making the move from Barcelona last summer, only bagging 3 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions.

His early season form has been patchy at best, but it was a shock to a lot of Chelsea fans to see him left out of the 25-man Champions League squad for the rest of the season.

According to a report from Football Insider, Everton are interested in the Chelsea striker as they look to add more firepower to their frontline to help in their relegation battle. The Toffees currently sit in 18th place on 18 points after 21 games.

Aubameyang is a proven goalscorer in every league he has played in, and he could change Everton's fortunes in the final third if he manages to re-find his form and confidence.

Everton could use the talents of the veteran striker, with their main striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin being extremely injury prone and Neal Maupay struggling for consistency since joining.

The Gabon international has been linked with a return to Spain and with former team AC Milan as well, who are said to be keen.

The opportunity to join Barcelona, Atletico Madrid or AC Milan certainly look to be more attractive prospects to the 2020 FA Cup winner.

However, it will be intriguing to see if the ex-Arsenal captain decides to stay in England to play with the Toffees, or if he ventures back out to Europe in the next phase of his career.

Chelsea spent approximately £320+ million on new players during the January transfer window, including attackers Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk.

The most ideal option for Chelsea then, looks to be to terminate Aubameyang's contract to give more playing time to their new signings, and to free up space on the wage bill for the summer, but only time will tell if he will leave the Blues.
