Erling Haaland got back to scoring ways against Brighton on the weekend, and that means he's set to break a Premier League record in February, at his current rate of scoring.
We've already gotten so used to seeing the Manchester City striker scoring that his blank against Liverpool even came as a surprise.
A player not scoring against Jurgen Klopp's shouldn't really be a shock, despite their poor form this season, but that's the levels we're at.

Before the weekend, his only previous blank in the league had come against Bournemouth and hat-tricks against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United, in what was a perfect 10 performance, made it feel like he'd never fail to score in a match again.
After failing to score against the Reds though he's bounced back, as if he needed to, with a brace against Brighton on Saturday.
His first of the game, the 16th of his league season, came after an 80 yard assist from Ederson in the City goal, before he scored his 17th from the penalty spot shortly after.

It means that he's just six short of the mark Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min reached to be joint top scorers last season, and just one short of the mark for the lowest amount of goals it's taken to win the league's golden boot award.
Those are some ridiculous stats already but at his current rate, the Norwegian is set to smash all records that have come before him.
In calculations done by Offers.bet, if he continues his current pace of 1.55 goals per game, Haaland will break Salah's record for most goals in a 38 game Premier League season, which is 32 goals in the 22nd game of the season.
That means that, having rested for six weeks during the World Cup, he will smash yet another league record on February 25th, when Pep Guaridola's side face Bournemouth, unless they can stop him again!

Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole share the record for most goals in a season, although their records are for 42 games, but that would also be Haaland's just two matches later.
Dixie Dean holds the record for the most goals in any top flight season in England, before the invention of the Premier League back in 1927/28, which still stands at 60 goals.
At 1.55 goals a game, the former Borussia Dortmund striker would actually fall just short of that total, scoring 'just,' 59 goals, although you'd hardly bet against him getting there.

What's more, if he can somehow continue that goal scoring rate then Shearer's record as the Premier League's top scorer of all time is in serious doubt, something the MOTD pundit admitted himself.
The 22-year-old Leeds born striker would take just 169 games to get beyond the Newcastle United legend's 260 goals in the league.
Barring injury, and playing virtually every game in the league, that would be some time in the 2026/27 season, and take 272 games less than Shearer.

Of course that would rely on Haaland remaining at City, something that doesn't seem too likely, considering the release clause in his contract.
It will be interesting to see exactly if he keeps this current rate up and which Premier League records will tumble at his feet in the coming years.
