Erik ten Hag told a Manchester United player to “stop whining” after the club’s stunning 4-0 defeat to Brentford earlier this season.
United returned to Premier League action earlier this week with a convincing 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest.
The victory sees ten Hag’s resurgent side move to within a point of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, with a game in hand.

Things have certainly looked rosier for the Old Trafford club in recent months, after a dreadful start to the campaign in which they lost their two opening Premier League fixtures.
After a 2-1 defeat to Brighton on the opening day of the season, United were then thrashed 4-0 at the Brentford Community Stadium.
The humiliating mauling saw the club bottom of the Premier League after just two matches.

The United boss was visibly stunned by his side’s performance against Brentford.

He labelled the display “rubbish” in his post-match press conference, and even subjected his players to an 8.5mille run the following day - a punishment ten Hag also took part in.
And according to the Times, one United player was also berated for complaining during the match against Brentford, which took place in a 32C heat.
One unnamed star reportedly moaned, “it’s way too hot to play football” to which ten Hag sharply replied, “stop whining”.
The shock defeat against Brentford, and the episode with the moaning player, inspired United to dip into the market.

The club bought Brazilian winger Antony, who has generally impressed in his first few months at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Casemiro joined United in a £60million transfer from Real Madrid ten days after the Brentford loss. In the 14 matches, he has started since then, United have lost only twice, to Real Sociedad in the Europa League and Aston Villa in the Premier League.
