Harry Kane breaks silence on negotiations between the FA and Thomas Tuchel

Harry Kane breaks silence on negotiations between the FA and Thomas Tuchel

Tuchel is in advanced talks to become the next England manager, according to widespread reports.

Harry Kane has commented on the prospect of reuniting with Thomas Tuchel as the former Bayern Munich manager continues to be linked with the vacant England job.

Tuchel is reportedly in advanced talks to become the next Three Lions manager, with the FA accelerating their search to name Gareth Southgate's successor.

The 51-year-old, who has been out of work since leaving Bayern in May, has been mentioned as a possible target for Manchester United as pressure continues to mount on Erik ten Hag.

In fact, at one stage, it was suggested that Tuchel was 'first in line' to become the United manager.

But it looks like the German is close to taking the Three Lions job, with Sky Sports reporting that Tuchel is the FA's primary choice.

They also claim that Tuchel could be confirmed in the not-so-distant future if negotiations progress well, although details around his contract have yet to be thrashed out.

Amid talk around Tuchel's future, England captain Harry Kane has commented on the links.

Speaking to Sky's Torben Hoffmann, the striker said: "Until it's announced obviously I can't really comment, but we have to wait and see."

He added: "Obviously, I know Thomas well from last year. Fantastic coach, fantastic person, so I am sure the guys at the FA will contact me, when they know more about it."

Kane was disappointed by Tuchel's departure from Bayern Munich in the summer, according to German publication Kicker.

Speaking back in February, after it was confirmed that Tuchel would leave at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, Kane was full of praise for the former Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea manager.

“The club made a decision. We players have to show our responsibility to the manager, our responsibility to the club, to give everything we have for the season," he said.

“We knew as players we haven't been performing as well as we can. You can't just sit there and talk about it. You have to fight and work hard at every moment and that's what we did today.”

Kane added: “Of course we have sadness because he's a top manager and a really good guy."
