ChatGPT has named its lineup for England’s upcoming Euro 2024 knockout match, and it has made a controversial call.
The round of 16 stage of the 2024 European Championships gets underway this weekend following a two-day break after the final group games conclude on Wednesday.
England progressed to the knockout stage after a 0-0 draw with Slovenia on Tuesday night and will likely face The Netherlands in Sunday’s fixture.

But, despite finishing top of group C, England fans have been disappointed with their team’s performances in the tournament so far, leading to many suggesting a change in the starting lineup is necessary.
And popular Artificial Intelligent programme ChatGPT agrees, as it has picked Eberechi Eze to start on the left-wing, with Phil Foden moved to midfield.
England has struggled to find a settled midfield in the competition, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Gallagher each earning starts during the group stage, alongside Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham.

Meanwhile, Foden has failed to impress for England at Euro 2024, despite starting all three matches as part of the front line.
The Premier League player of the 2023/24 season typically plays as a number 10 for champions Manchester City but has played on the left-wing for Gareth Southgate’s England.
Therefore, ChatGPT has suggested that England solve both problems by moving Foden back into his natural position, dropping Jude Bellingham back to a number 8 role, and starting Crystal Palace winger Eze on the left.

Eze made 27 Premier League appearances for Palace in 23/24 and scored 11 goals and assisted four in this time.
Alongside teammate Michael Olise, his performances for the London club has attracted the attention of several top clubs who may look to make a move for the 25-year-old this summer.
Foden scored 19 goals in the Premier League in 35 appearances in the 23/24 season, assisting another eight.
Elsewhere in the lineup, the AI programme decided to swap England’s fullbacks, starting Kyle Walker on the left and Kieran Trippier on the right.

The left-back position has been another weakness for England after Manchester United’s Luke Shaw, who typically starts for England, has struggled with an injury throughout the competition.
