In perhaps the best World Cup final of all time, Argentina beat France on penalties after an exhilarating 3-3 draw which saw the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi write their names in the history books forever.

However, despite Argentina's iconic victory, celebrations were dampened slightly by the behaviour of their goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who claimed the Golden Glove award at the tournament.

The Aston Villa keeper's celebrations went viral around the world as he made a rude gesture with the award whilst collecting it with many being shocked and disgusted with his celebration.

Martinez has since revealed later that he did the gesture in response to French fans.

“I did it because the French booed me. Pride does not work with me,”

However, despite his reasoning FIFA have released a statement which reveals that Martinez as well as Argentina themselves have many articles of the FIFA disciplinary code. Argentina have made: "potential breaches of articles 11 (Offensive behaviour and violations of the principles of fair play) and 12 (Misconduct of players and officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, as well as of article 44 of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Regulations."

These breaches all came during and after the final in which scenes of the Argentina side winning their third World Cup title and star man Lionel Messi finally winning his first title with his national side.

Images of Martinez went especially viral as he was seen holding a toy baby with Mbappe's face on as well as calling for a moment of silence for the death of Mbappe in the changing room after the final.

These celebrations were seen live by the four million ecstatic Argentinian fans and around the world as millions watched online as things got slightly out of hand for the world champions.

The number of breaches for Argentina are significant, they will certainly be charged by FIFA one way or the other as the organisation looks to take a strong stance on rude and disrespectful celebrations at their tournament.
