Compilation video of Denis Zakaria's dream Chelsea debut has fans calling for him to start on a regular basis

Zakaria scored on his debut for Chelsea against Dinamo Zagreb.

Denis Zakaria enjoyed a dream debut for Chelsea on Wednesday night, scoring the winning goal on his first appearance for the Blues.

Zakaria, 25, has had to bide his time since joining Chelsea on loan from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

The Switzerland international joined the Blues on loan until the end of the campaign, with the option of a permanent transfer once the season is completed.

However, he has found first-team opportunities hard to come by since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

After failing to make an appearance under former head coach Thomas Tuchel, Zakaria had also been overlooked by his replacement Graham Potter.

But the defensive midfielder was finally handed an opportunity to impress on Wednesday when Chelsea took on Dinamo Zagreb in their final group match in the Champions League.

It proved to be a successful evening for Zakaria, who put in a solid defensive performance and also grabbed a goal for Chelsea with his first shot for the club.

It had looked like it might be a difficult evening for the Blues when Bruno Petkovic put the Croatian side in front after just seven minutes.

Raheem Sterling equalised for Chelsea 10 minutes later before Zakaria scored the winner after half an hour.

After collecting a cut-back from Mason Mount, Zakaria side-footed a shot towards goal from the edge of the box which managed to trickle over the line despite some desperate defending from Dinamo.

There were no further goals in the second half, with Chelsea going on to secure a 2-1 win and top spot in Group E.

A video compilation of Zakaria's performance, which you can watch below, has fans keen to see more of the midfielder.

"Did good. I want him to replicate this in the Prem," posted one fan on Twitter.

Another added: "Dennis Zakaria never complained while on bench and he was finally given a chance to play and he showed Potter why he should be more involved in his plans... he's a baller."

Zakaria was forced off in the 70th minute with an injury but Blues boss Graham Potter confirmed after the match that it was not serious.

"I thought he was really good. You can see what he brings, the quality he has. He played with enthusiasm and has good discipline," said Potter, when asked to assess Zakaria's debut.

"He got forward when he could. I'm really pleased for him."

However, there are concerns over England international Ben Chilwell, who limped off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury just weeks before the start of the World Cup.

"It doesn't look positive. It's a hamstring but we'll have to scan it and see how it is," added Potter.
