Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has been roasted by his England team-mate Declan Rice after posting a training video on Instagram.
Lingard has been strongly linked with a move away from United this month after playing just 88 minutes of Premier League football this season.
Newcastle and West Ham have both been linked with Lingard, who is seemingly keen to impress potential suitors and prove he is ready for more first-team football.
He took to Instagram on Thursday to post a video of him performing shooting drills, alongside the caption: “Working”.
However, his former West Ham team-mate Rice was less than impressed with Lingard’s opposition in goal, commenting: “The keeper lost his hands?”
Lingard has struggled for opportunities at United this season following the summer signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the campaign and interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed he won’t be offered a new deal.
In a video posted to TikTok by user PhezTheRed, Rangnick is seen chatting with United supporters while signing autographs outside Old Trafford.
When the fan urges Rangnick not to sell Lingard, the German replies: “He will leave in the summer.”
Lingard had been in talks to join Newcastle on loan until the end of the campaign but the deal is now said to be ‘on the verge of collapse’.
The Athletic claim Newcastle are unhappy with a clause in the deal that would force them to pay a £12m 'survival bonus' if they avoid relegation.
Lingard has also been linked with his former club West Ham, after a successful loan spell at the London Stadium last season.
Playing alongside Rice, Lingard provided nine goals and five assists in 16 games for the east London club.
Rice, meanwhile, continues to be linked with a move to United this summer after continuing to impress for the Hammers.
The midfielder fuelled speculation he could join the Red Devils in the future, with his post-match comments after West Ham’s 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford earlier this month.
"I was loving it," Rice said, despite seeing his team lost to a last-gasp winner from Marcus Rashford.
“Every time I come to Old Trafford, I've always said it's one of my favourite places to play.
“It's an amazing stadium.”
