Cristiano Ronaldo refuses to let his 11-year-old son Cristiano Jr have a mobile phone as he doesn't want him to "obsessed with technology".
Cristiano Jr, who plays for the Manchester United youth team, has one of the most famous fathers in the world and is more or less sorted in life.
Ronaldo's eldest child regularly asks his old man for a phone but the 36-year-old is playing hard-ball.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner made the revelation at the Al Wasl Plaza in Dubai, having travelled in the winter break to collect Globe Soccer's Top Scorer of All Time award.
As per the Daily Mail, Ronaldo said: "Definitely it helps a lot. It helped me and the people here, all the world, and I think we have to take advantage of that but we shouldn’t be obsessed with it.
"For example, I can give you a small impression. My oldest child is going to be 12 years old soon and he asks me every time, 'Daddy, can I have a phone, can I have a phone, can I have a phone.'
"I say to him, 'Cristiano, you have time.'
"I know as well that this young generation are one step ahead of their age so I agree that we have to take advantage of that but not to be obsessed about technology.
"Give them but with a period of time, not give them all the time. I think that’s the main point here."
Ronaldo is a father of four and is set to become a dad again as girlfriend Georgina is currently pregnant with his twins.
He's said similarly about not wanting his son to have a phone before, stating, 'If he wants to call me he should through his grandmother".
At the 2020 Globe Soccer Awards, when he was crowned 'Player of the Century, Ronaldo hit headlines when he admitted his frustration over his son drinking fizzy drinks and eating crisps.
"I'm hard with him sometimes because he drinks Coca-Cola and Fanta sometimes and I'm pissed with him," he said
"I fight with him when he eats chips and fries and everything, he knows I don't like it.
"Even my small kids, when they eat chocolate they always look to me and, you know, we have to be strong.
"But to be honest he has potential, he is a big boy, he's fast and he's driven well. But this nothing, I tell him every time, it takes a lot of dedication, a lot of hard work."
