Man United willing to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave on a FREE transfer, but there's no interest in the striker

Ronaldo has been banished from United's first-team squad.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to allow Cristiano Ronaldo to leave on a free transfer in January.

Ronaldo looks destined to depart Old Trafford before the end of the season after being frozen out of the first-team squad by manager Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo has been told to train by himself and will play no part in Saturday's Premier League clash with Chelsea after refusing to come on as a substitute in United's 2-0 win over Tottenham on Wednesday.

Ten Hag insists Ronaldo remains part of his plans at Old Trafford despite banishing him from the squad.

"Cristiano remains an important part of the squad and I count on him for the rest of the season. We want to fulfil our ambitions," said Ten Hag.

However, The Athletic claim that the relationship between Ronaldo and Ten Hag has broken down, with the player desperate to leave the club and his manager happy to allow him to leave.

ESPN claim Ronaldo has been made available on a free transfer since the summer but have received no interest in the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Ronaldo handed in a transfer request in the summer window in an attempt to force through a move to a Champions League club.

But after a transfer failed to materialise, Ronaldo remained at United and has been consigned to a bit-part role this season under Ten Hag.

According to ESPN, United have been willing to offload Ronaldo since he handed in his transfer request in the summer.

"United have not sought a fee for the player in the hope that another club would be prepared to take on his £500,000-a-week contract," the report added.

However, aside from interest from Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal, no other team has made a serious bid to sign the 37-year-old.

Sources claim that United are hopeful that more interested parties will emerge if Ronaldo has a successful World Cup with Portugal this winter.

It has also been suggested that the striker could be loaned out in January, when he would have just six months remaining on his current deal at United.

But after scoring just two goals in 12 appearances this season, it remains to be seen whether any interested parties will be willing to meet his huge wage demands.
